Computer technology has undergone significant improvements in terms of miniaturization, performance and interaction schemes. Today, almost invisible pervasive technology can be seamlessly integrated into the environment and daily life objects. Small sensors and sensor networks support for processing context-aware decision models. Advanced wireless communication technologies allow for creating an Internet of Things. The ubiquitous availability of networked smart objects allows to realize interactive spaces in previously unknown ways for a plethora of living scenarios.

Ambient Computing is a multi-disciplinary approach of building assistive applications and systems in order to support human beeings in their daily life routine with taking special care of age, abilities and context. Our scientific focus is on the application of ubiquitous and pervasive computing systems to realize interactive and context-sensitive multimedia environments.

AAL - Creativity Ambient Assisted Creativity supports the human creative process with ambient computing technology both in private and professional contexts. The idea is to create interactive systems that seamlessly integrate into mental and social process in the creative act, especially for young and elderly people with cognitive and physical limitations.

AAL - Education Ambient Assisted Education offers completely new ways of integrating media technology in the context of learning spaces. Context-aware education systems can offer appropriate knowledge items at the right context (mobile learning, blended learning, etc.) Especially mixed reality technologies can help to add knowledge layers.

AAL - Entertainment Ambient Assisted Entertainment realizes a whole new domain of interactive entertainment applications in space. Pervasive Games move the player away from the screen and allows for interactive entertainment at almost any places using tangible interfaces.
